Keith Kitchin      Percussion

Keith Kitchin is a native of Salisbury, MA who now lives in Gorham, Maine sharing custody of two dogs Madison and Sadie.

Keith has a Masters degree in education and uses those skills as physical education teacher for grades 3-5 in a local intermediate school.  He considers himself a multi-talented individual in the areas of athletics, drawing, and music; the specials were his favorite subjects in school.  Keith’s first introduction to music was playing the percussion (single snare drum) in the elementary school band.  Keith’s musical influences are Jimmy Buffett, Scott Kirby, and Kenny Chesney.

The first concert Keith attended was Alice Cooper at the Worcester Centrum in 1986.  In those days Keith sported a sweet mullet.  Keith has seen Buffett in concert over 50 times since 1995.   In fact, he has had several opportunities to personally meet Jimmy Buffett,  Once Keith switched identities with Jimmy in 1999.  Keith and his brothers danced onstage at a JB concert in 2002 all because of some cardboard and a little imagination. Keith says, “Jimmy Buffett has been good to and for me and I appreciate him for that.” Performing in front of 50 or 20,000 people doesn’t matter to Keith as long as it is a good time.

Keith became a member of the Calypso Cowboys in 2004 when he brought his bongos to Rick’s Café in Naples, Maine.  He played congas and bongos with the band until he purchased a drum set on impulse in the spring of 2007, and began playing again after a 15+ year absence.  Keith brought Fred into the band when he mentioned he had a friend who played the congas and would fit in nicely with the group.  Keith says it’s a great joy to play the music that he loves with great people for fans who like to have a great time.
