Jay Moran: Lead Guitar and Vocals
An appearance by The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show inspired a young Jay Moran to learn how to play guitar. After buying his first guitar in the 1960s in New York City, Jay began taking lessons that would lead to a lifelong love of playing guitar.(He still has that original NYC guitar!) During high school Jay played in his first band called the Royal Garden Blues Band which played at parties and community events around town.
Fast forward to his 40th birthday where Jay reconnected with his love of music, dusted off his guitar and joined a friend to establish the Mick Roy Band. The band had a successful run for 10 years playing events big and small around Maine. A personal highlight was when Jay's daughter requested the MRB to play at her wedding since she grew up with the band! Around the time the MRB called it quits, The Calypso Cowboys began expanding and asked Jay to bring his many talents to a new band. As they say, the rest is history! An avid sailor, Captain Jay enjoys sailing off the coast of Maine with his wife Margi.
