Fred Quistgard    Percussion

One of the newer members of the Calypso Cowboys, Fred adds a layered tropical beat with his congas and bongos. Fred, a die-hard Parrothead and veteran of over 70 Jimmy Buffett concerts, had his passion for percussion ignited by local trop-rock favorites, The Corona Brothers, who were kind enough to let him sit in as guest percussionist at some of their gigs including the New England Parrothead Convention sponsored by Club Finz. Fred's musical influence is legendary Coral Reefer percussionist, Ralph MacDonald. At the 2006 Meeting of the Minds in Key West, Florida, Fred finished 4th in Margaritaville's "King or Queen of Somewhere Hot" contest. He also was the 2005 Buffett Jeopardy Champion at the New England Parrothead Convention in Danvers, Massachusetts.

Away from the stage, Fred serves as Director of Admissions at York County Community
College and also gives private ice hockey goaltending lessons to aspiring youth, high school and collegiate athletes. Fred, a fixture on the New England hockey scene for 25 years, was a hockey coach at many area colleges including the University of New Hampshire, Bowdoin College and Union College. He helped coach the U.S. Women's National Ice Hockey team to a Silver Medal at a World Championship in Lake Placid, NY and took a New Hampshire boys' ice hockey all-star team to a national title in Chicago, IL. Fred lives in Old Orchard Beach with his St. Bernard, Daisey, where he spends his free time surfing.
